Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max
Apple has revealed the date for its fall event, called “Glowtime.” This eagerly awaited event is set for September 9 at Apple Park and is notable for being exactly 10 years since the original Apple Watch was announced.
The Glowtime event is expected to be significant, showcasing the new iPhone 16 series, the Apple Watch Series 10 (or “X”), and possibly more. Here’s a preview of what we anticipate Apple will unveil in less than two weeks.
First on the agenda is the iPhone 16 series, beginning with the standard iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus.
The standard iPhone 16 is expected to feature a refreshed design this year, particularly with its camera layout. While it will still have a dual-camera system, the cameras will be arranged in a vertical pill-shaped module, similar to the design seen on the iPhone X through iPhone 12.
The base models are also anticipated to include a new Capture button located on the bottom right of the frame, which will move the wireless antenna to the opposite side. This button will function as a camera shutter and will be flush with the frame due to its capacitive design. Additionally, the Action button might replace the old silent/ring switch on the base models, following the change seen in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max last year.
The sizes of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to stay the same, with the iPhone 16 at 6.1 inches and the iPhone 16 Plus at 6.7 inches. However, the bezels will likely be thinner.
In terms of specs, both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are anticipated to feature either a version of the A17 chip from last year (the A17 Pro used in the iPhone 15 Pro models) or a new A18 chip. These models will be the first iPhones to launch with Apple Intelligence, so the chip will need to handle the AI tools and features efficiently.
The base model iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are also expected to see camera upgrades. Both will feature a dual-camera system, including a 48-megapixel main camera with 1x and 2x optical zoom and an f/1.6 aperture. The ultrawide lens will remain 12MP with 0.5x zoom, but its aperture will improve to f/2.2 from f/2.4, enhancing low-light performance. Additionally, macro photography might be introduced on these models for the first time.
In terms of colors, the new iPhones will likely come in classic black and white, along with vibrant shades of blue, green, and pink.
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
While the base iPhone 16 will feature some noticeable design updates, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have more subtle visual changes.
The iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to continue using a titanium frame, and the triple-lens camera setup will remain the same as in recent years. The Action button will stay, and both Pro models will also include the new Capture button on the bottom right of the frame.
There will be a slight increase in size for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro’s display will grow from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max could expand from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. Both models will feature noticeably thinner bezels.
The slight increase in size for the iPhone 16 Pro could allow Apple to include a larger telephoto lens, potentially adding 5x optical zoom capabilities that were missing from the iPhone 15 Pro.
This year, the iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to see significant camera upgrades. The triple-lens system will reportedly feature a 48MP main lens with an f/1.78 aperture, a 12MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide lens with an improved f/2.2 aperture for better low-light performance. For colors, the iPhone 16 Pro models will likely come in the standard black, white, and gray titanium, with a new option possibly in bronze or a brownish titanium shade.
